After Chinese rule, ceramics developed over time to become distinctly Vietnamese. Traditionally, cobalt blue and white are the most common colours, though there are others available. Teapots, large bowls and other household items are decorative and functional. Prices vary with quality; a beautiful tea set and tray starts at VND250,000.
Local insight: Two streets are famous for cheap and exquisite porcelain: Nguyen Thong and Le Quy Don, both in D3. Bargaining is expected and careful inspection is a must.
